The compound’s pharmacokinetics are characterized by extensive first‑pass metabolism and a short half‑life (≈ 2–4 h) when administered orally; intramuscular injection yields a prolonged release due to depot formation. Adverse effects include hepatotoxicity, virilization in females, dyslipidemia, hypertension, suppression of endogenous testosterone production, and potential cardiomyopathy.
